Bishop Varnavas of Salamis

Bishop Varnavas was born on July 8, 1931, in Leucara. In June 1951, he completed Cyprus's gymnasium.

In 1955, he completed the Theological Faculty of the University of Athens. In the period of his studies, he was a catechizer in various parishes of Athens. From 1960 until 1962, he worked in the Metropolitanate of Paphos, and since 1965 - in the Archdiocese of Cyprus.

On November 26, 1969, Archbishp Makarios III ordained him a deacon, and on November 4, 1970 - presbyter with an elevation to archimandrite.

On August 1, 1973, he was elected Vicar Bishop of Salamis. His episcopal consecration took place on August 12, 1973.

His name day is June 11.
