His Eminence Metropolitan Hieronymos of Rodopolis

Today, November 17, 2005, His Eminence Hieronymos (Constantinidis) of Rodopolis died in Constantinople. For 54 years, he was a hierarch of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and for very many years a member of the permanent Holy Synod of the Patriarchate. Born in 1912 in Constantinople, His Eminence Hieronymos was a graduate of the Halki Institute of Theology in 1939. He was ordained a deacon in 1937 and a priest in 1942. In 1951, the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate elected him as Bishop of Tralles, auxiliary bishop of Patriarch Athenagoras. In 1954, he was promoted to Metropolitan of Rodopolis. He was the president and member of several synodal commissions.
